Hi alex! I have recently graduated from the University of Florida with honors. I maintained an overall GPA of 3.6. My upper division GPA was 3.9 and consisted of Mostly Nursing Prerequisites. [anatomy, physiology, chem 1(mot for premed) , etc.]. I am now interested in attending a postbaccalaureate premed program. I was particularly interested in NYU or Columbia. Which both offer this. My questions lie partly in my fear of the demands of the science prerequisites. How much demand do medical schools put on grades in science classes when they are considering a Postbac. Also do they consider my upper division GPA when making their decision. In addition, any information that you have on either one of those two schools would be greatly appreciated. I know I have a lot of questions but I've been feeling lost lately. Thank you for this website and this opportunity.

Hello, I have found your site very enlightening. I am what you would call a non-traditional student since I recieved an honors B.S. in biochemistry a couple of years ago. I have also worked in a neurochemistry lab for several years and have had the privelege to be a co-author on 3 publications and several conference abstracts. In addition, I am finishing a masters degree in public health. I am thinking about a career in medicine but am a little worried about my undergraduated GPA. My undergrad GPA was 3.45 and at this point in my graduate studies (between my first and second year) I have a 3.96. I have taken the MCAT but did not do very well. Will my graduate studies, and publications, improve my chances of acceptance to medical school provided I improve my MCAT score? Thank you for your thoughts.
